Several dozen North Carolina residents returned from Las Vegas on Monday, including Burnie and Kirsten Little, who were celebrating their third wedding anniversary.

On Sunday, the Littles decided to attend the Jason Aldean concert for a final night out before coming home.

"I can close my eyes and I can still hear the gun shots," Kristen told ABC11. "Last night I was making phone calls telling my family goodbye because I was afraid I wasn't going to get out of there."

Fortunately, the Littles escaped the horrors of Sunday's tragedy without any physical injuries. The emotional wounds, though, will last a long time.

"It's a little terrifying not knowing where to go, not knowing what's going on, not knowing how many shooters there might be," Burnie Little added.

Now they're home in Winston-Salem, grateful to have the gift of each other's presence. By surviving the tragedy, they've never felt closer.

"We're so glad to be back."
