Crabtree Mall gets new ramp
Crabtree Valley Mall officials hope a new ramp will ease traffic concerns ahead of the holiday season

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Crabtree Valley Mall has made a major improvement to the parking deck at its main entrance off Glenwood Ave.

A new down ramp opened to drivers Friday that will alleviate congestion in the lot adjacent to Sears and Starbucks.

"In the past, the vehicles would enter that lot near Sears; if it was full, they would double back and create that congestion at the entry point," explained Brian Asbill, Crabtree Mall Spokesperson. "It's now free flow, one way so we want people to be careful."

Shoppers coming into Crabtree's main entrance off Glenwood Ave. and turning right into the lot, will need to follow the arrows snaking through the parking spots and if all spaces are full, take the down ramp to find parking in the lower levels or to exit away from the main intersection.

"It really is a good thing because it's going to direct them to more open spaces," said Asbill.

The ramp holds 20 additional parking spaces that will come in handy for the holiday rush and especially next year, when the new Streetscape project is completed and more retail space is available at the main entrance.
