RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Super Saturday, as the last Saturday before Christmas is called, came through with a bang at Raleigh's Crabtree Valley Mall.
ShopperTrak predicted Americans would spend $10 billion on Saturday alone. For the first time in 10 years, Super Saturday was forecast to outpace Black Friday as the #1 sales day of the year.
At Crabtree, officers directed traffic through the mall's parking decks. Still, some shoppers told ABC11 they spent at least 20 minutes searching for a parking spot.
The long lines were well worth it for last-minute shoppers looking to take advantage of stores' deep discounts.
"It's a challenge," said Ginger Green, who drove from Greenville to knock out her Christmas shopping. "But I'm out here because I'm in a very good Christmas spirit!"
Many retailers are operating on extended hours leading up to Christmas. Kohl's opened its doors at 6 a.m. Saturday and will stay open day and night, until it closes again at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
