Subscribe and save programs growing with retailers
Retailers are launching subscribe and save programs to ship frequently purchased items to your house.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Retailers are launching subscribe and save programs to ship frequently purchased items to your house.

"We always buy our diapers and our Pull-Ups here," said Jessica Bailey.

With two small kids, Bailey is a frequent shopper at Target in Raleigh.

"We come about once a week," she said.

Bailey admits her kids enjoy the outings to Target, but, the retailer is working to make it easier for shoppers like her to get the items they need delivered right to their door.

Target is one of the major retailers now offering a subscribe and save option.

Customers can sign up for re-occurring purchases for items and schedule them to automatically ship to their house.

"The categories range from healthcare to pet care," explained Target executive Alana Mogavero. "And you can add anything to your shopping cart and order it. Once you order this item, you can have it shipped to your home for free. You can have it shipped monthly. You can change the quantity and time. Anything you receive, if you need to return it, you can send it back to us for free or bring in to any Target location."

When you sign up for these subscription services, there are discounts.

"So let's say, for instance, you need to order Huggies diapers," explained Mogavero. "You would order Huggies diapers, you would get five percent off using your Target Redcard. You can link your Cartwheel app to your location and get an additional 5-40 percent off that item if its also in Kartwheel."

For additional incentive, Target is also promoting 20 percent off subscription orders for the week of July 14.

Amazon also has a subscribe and save program giving a discount for eligible items. If you subscribe for five or more items to be delivered at the same time, you get 15 percent off your order.

Sam's Club also just announced a subscription program for members. You log in online and subscribe to have the items sent to your house. Because you are already getting competitive warehouse prices, Sam's doesn't offer discounts-but shipping is free on most subscription items.

It's saving moms like Jessica Bailey one more trip to the store.
