DURHAM (WTVD) -- On Saturday, hundreds of runners will take part in the 20th Anniversary "Great Human Race" in Durham.
The 5K race and walk is a unique fundraising event that supports hundreds of non-profits, schools, and faith-based groups.
Since its inception in 1996, the "Great Human Race" has raised more than $2 million.
Kim Shaw, from the Volunteer Center of Durham, came to the ABC11 studio on Thursday to discuss the event.
Registration is from 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. The race starts at 8 a.m. at Durham's Northgate Mall. The 5K course winds through the historic Watts-Hillandale neighborhood. For more information, click here.
