MECKLENBURG COUNTY (WTVD) -- Authorities are trying to find the man who impersonated a Fort Bragg soldier and conned a woman out of $140,000.

According to WSOC in Charlotte, the impersonator went by the name Thomas Peichert.

He allegedly started a relationship with the Mecklenburg County woman on the dating website, then through emails told her he was stationed in Afghanistan, but could finish his assignment at Fort Bragg if she wired him money.

The woman later sent the money to bank accounts in foreign countries when he promised he would pay her back.

Authorities are currently trying to track him down through the email address he used during the encounter.
