Greensboro firefighter walks to Durham for boy with cancer

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A recently retired Greensboro firefighter went above and beyond to help boy with cancer.
Tim Gibbs walked 50 miles from Greensboro to Duke University Medical Center to raise awareness for 8-year-old Morgan Nolen, the son of Fire Captain Spencer Nolen. On Saturday he arrived in Durham.
Morgan is battling a rare nerve cancer and is receiving stem cell treatment at Duke.
Gibbs, along with others who joined him throughout the journey, is raising awareness for an October 13 fundraiser for Morgan and his family.

Gibbs walked in full gear despite the heat, and didn't seem to mind at all.
"We love this guy, this is one of our people that we love, him and his son," he said. "And we figured if this boy can fight for his life every day, we can suck it up for about four from Greensboro, walking the streets."
Gibbs started his journey on Thursday.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
