Girls' night out for Make-A-Wish

ABC11 Together is highlighting an effort to raise money to help local children in need.

There are sick kids in the hospital right now who would love to get away from the pain and do something fun.

That was exactly the reason for a special event Thursday - the Lloyd and Lady Boutique in North Raleigh held a girls' night out for Make-A-Wish!

ABC11 Anchor Barbara Gibbs was honored to be a special guest and introduced 12-year-old Ashley Burnette, who was diagnosed with cancer when she was 7-years-old.

During treatment, Burnette became a Make-A-Wish kid and chose to go to Disney World!

Now 3 1/2 years cancer free, she speaks at Make-A-Wish events to bring home how life-changing wishes can be for sick children.
