RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The Raleigh-Cary Jewish Family Services gave back to the community as part of Good Deeds Day which started in Israel 10 years ago. They've been performing community service in Wake County for four years and work with a number of partners.

On Saturday, children put together toiletry bags for Fort Bragg soldiers getting ready to deploy and sunshine bags for children staying at the Fisher House. The Fisher House provides free or low cost lodging to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers.

"I absolutely love working with interesting people of the same mind who really have the desire and the heart to do better for their community no matter how small," said outreach coordinator Tracy Bennett. "Because we know that it eventually pays forward."

About 400 volunteers worked throughout Wake County.
