Large crowd gathers for annual Fayetteville Veterans Day Parade
The Fayetteville Veterans Day Parade drew a large, enthusiastic crowd Saturday.

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- You expect a major turnout for the annual Veterans Day parade in Fayetteville, since it is home to many veterans and their families as well as active duty soldiers.

Emily Adkins and her husband Coy brought their baby son along on Saturday.

She told ABC11, "We're both veterans, me and my husband, and we love to come out to support the veterans who came before us and the ones who'll come after us. We couldn't be prouder to be part of the military, and call the U.S. our home!"

The parade also brought Josiah King and his mother downtown, where we learned the young man's very proud of his soldier dad.

"That he saved our lives when we needed to save our lives, and he saved this world," King said.

Vietnam Veteran William Finley said his brothers and sisters in arms don't ask for much from the nation they proudly served.

"Just a thank you, that's all we want. Just a thank you, and your appreciation," he said.

Those are the simple words that mean the world to those who willingly put their lives on the line for Americans.

That's why Coy Adkins reminds us, "Just because you don't know the people coming back from deployments, you can always raise your flag and tell them thank you for their service."
