RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A local rescue mission is trying to help people keep cool, but to do that they need your generosity.

The Helping Hands Mission in the 600 block of Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh has been handing out fans, and they're asking for your donations so more people can keep cool this summer.

Since last Monday, they've given out about 300 fans. At last report, they have fewer than 20 left.

Volunteers are trying to fill that need. They are even repairing fans that are broken to be able to give away. Supplies are low and the phone calls keep coming.

"Today, we've had over 60 phone calls," said Helping Hands Mission Director Sylvia Wiggins. "We have about 17 left. So, it's been rough."

You can help beef up supplies by making a donation.

Volunteers will be at the donation center all day Wednesday taking fans and window A/C units.
