Man leaves Wake Forest bartender $1,000 tip
A slow night at a local cafe turned out to be one of the best nights for a local bartender.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- A slow night at a Wake Forest cafe turned out to be one of the best nights for a local bartender.

Chrisi Kemp says she was having a horrible day personally and professionally until one man walked in the door.

The customer's tab was only fourteen bucks, but when Kemp looked at the credit card receipt, she found he'd written in a $1,000 tip.

The very generous tipper wants to remain anonymous. He visited the One Whirled Cafe last Thursday.

Kemp said that day she'd had a breakdown at home before coming into work. One of her daughters recently became ill and she has been back and forth to the doctor.

An appliance broke at home and needed to be replaced.

Kemp said she and her husband had just enough money to pay the bills but there was nothing left over.

That was until the generous tipper sat down at the bar.

"I... I... I'm still just speechless about some parts of it. I can't even believe. And I think my bosses were shocked because they came out and are like are you sure you want to do this? And the gentleman was like 'Yeah,'" said Kemp.

Kemp said she waited days before cashing in the money and even called the tipper right beforehand to make sure he didn't have remorse.

We asked the tipper why he did it. He told us he believes in good karma and it was Kemp's turn to receive some.
