Special trooper helping to keep roads safe
Kyssi Andrews has fought cancer for a good portion of her life. On Monday, she became a state trooper.

HOUSTON -- Texas State troopers are getting a helping hand keeping the road safe, thanks to a very special little girl.

DPS is making a little girl's wish come true. Kyssi Andrews had been fighting a rare form of kidney cancer and while she beat that, now the six-year-old is dealing with lung cancer.

Her wish was not to go to Disney World but to keep the streets safe. DPS troopers and Houston police officers are making that happen.

Kyssi is now an honorary state trooper with the uniform and the hat to prove it, but it is not all fun and games. Like any trooper in the state, Kyssi signed onto duty with dispatch, then she conducted a traffic stop, met with the mounted patrol officers, and even took a ride on a DPS helicopter.

Throughout it all, the six-year-old is having a blast with her new found friends in law enforcement.

Kyssi and her mom attend the same church as a DPS recruiter who helped make today happen. A Facebook page and crowdfunding site have been set up to help her family with medical bills.
