Paddleboarder's close encounter with shark
Danny Reid filmed the shark swim under his paddle board in Huntington Beach, California.

It was like a scene out of the movie Jaws when paddleboarder Danny Reid captured incredible footage of a shark swimming next to him.

Reid was paddleboarding in Sunset Beach, just off the coast of Huntington Beach, Calif., when he caught a shark swimming next to him on his underwater camera.

"I filmed this on Saturday. I see them every time I paddleboard here in Sunset, and have witnessed them swim under my board a few times," Reid told ABC News.

The Huntington Beach Police Department says that there have been increased shark sightings and that they have been working with local researchers to determine the cause.

Reid, however, wasn't frightened to see a shark swimming by his side. In fact, the paddleboarder was quite excited to witness the creature swimming beneath him.

"I am blessed to have witnessed these sharks in their natural environment," he said.
