Durham high school coach suspended after charges

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A Durham coach has been suspended after getting arrested on embezzlement charges.

Sylvia Latson is charged with identity theft and embezzlement.

Durham Public Schools says she has been with the school district for three years but is not a teacher, only a coach.

The school system also saying nothing appeared on her background check when she was hired.

According to Max Preps, Latson coached softball at Hillside High School. She's also in the North Carolina Central University Sports Hall of Fame.
