Durham Titans heading to Florida thanks to ABC11 viewers

DURHAM (WTVD) -- ABC11 Together helped a Triangle youth football team achieve their dream.

We first told you about the Durham Titans from the John Avery Boys and Girls Club last month.

Thursday evening, the team held their final practice before heading to the championship game in Florida.

You may remember they needed to raise $3,000. Thanks to your generosity, they more than surpassed their goal. The team presented ABC11 with a helmet signed by the players and coaches to say thank you.

"When ABC11 first got out here, we were at $660 after a month. After about a week, we're at $4,000, and today we're at $5,155," said Titans' head coach Greg Greene.

The team boards the bus for Florida Friday morning.
