ANN ARBOR, MI -- It's the shot that just cost a Michigan business major student $10,000.

Sophomore Michael Miller was selected from the crowd at Saturday's basketball game in Ann Arbor to make four shots in less than half a minute. If he could pull it off, he'd win a $10,000 grand prize.

Video posted by ESPN shows Miller make the layup, make the free throw and then hit a 3-pointer. With time winding down, he runs to half-court, heaves a shot and the crowd goes wild! It's good!

Or was it?

The contest's replay officials checked the footage and announced Miller was half a second too late in releasing the final shot and told him he would not be receiving the $10,000 prize money.

The crowd's cheers quickly turned into boos.

"They told me to give them my information and that they were going to send me some gifts as a consolation," Miller told The Detroit News. "Then they announced over the PA that I was going to get $1,000.

Miller later Tweeted that $1,000 is better than nothing.

But that's not stopping many others on social media from demanding he get the full prize.

Miller says he's not planning to pursue getting the whole prize, but he may try to get a better explanation.

"I may send an email to the person involved just to ask that question and get an answer," he told The Detroit News.
