Governor predicts Panthers will win Super Bowl
Governor Pat McCrory

CHARLOTTE (WTVD) -- ABC11 spoke with an exuberant Governor Pat McCrory after Sunday's Panthers victory over the Cardinals and he likened the team's story to the story of North Carolina as a whole.

"The Carolina Panthers - kind of like North Carolina and even the city of Charlotte - are under appreciated and really not known by the rest of the nation and I think we use that to our advantage. We're under appreciated. We aren't given respect. And I think that's to our advantage and that's why we win a lot of battles - not just with the Panthers but the city of Charlotte and all of North Carolina," he explained.

McCrory said he's been enjoying winning his friendly wagers with the politicians from other states and he's confident the Panthers will go all the way.

"Oh we're going to win. I've predicted all year long we're going to win. I think we're going to blow them out again, but Coach Rivera is a class act and it's been good getting to know him and Stephanie - who like my wife - loves dogs. I've won my third bet. I'm still waiting for Seattle to deliver the fish and I'll give the fish to Coach Rivera and Stephanie," he said.
