Investigation underway in Charlotte after officer-involved shooting

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Authorities in Charlotte are investigating an officer-involved shooting that stemmed from a home invasion where a woman was being held hostage.

Police were called to the home on Holly Street just after 10 p.m. Monday.

When they arrived, an armed man inside the home came outside with a woman who was being held at gunpoint.

Officers fired at the man, striking him.

The woman was not injured during the incident, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Paramedics also rushed the gunman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The officers were not injured.

The incident remains under investigation.
