Crash shuts down I-40
A crash shut down I-40 west near Harrison Avenue

I-40 westbound was closed Saturday afternoon near Harrison Avenue, Exit 287 due to a car stuck in the median after an accident.

State Highway Patrol said it happened around 3:30 p.m. near Old Rowdy Creek. There were multiple vehicles involved in the crash, but no one was injured.

Some motorists had left the scene, so troopers do not have a full count on how many cars were involved yet.

Troopers are still taking calls from drivers that said they were involved in this wreck, so the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities said at the time of the crash, it was raining slightly, which made the road slick. Troopers think the crashes were most likely caused by a failure to reduce speed on those slick roads.

The scene was cleared around 6 p.m. Saturday.
