Car slams into Durham child care center

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A car crashed into a Durham business Wednesday afternoon.

It happened just before 2:15 p.m. in the 2900 block of Fayetteville Street.

Police say a car was going north on Fayetteville Street when it ran off the road and struck a building which houses a child care center named Royalty Academy, which was closed for renovations.

The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Naquan Jones, was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The building sustained significant damage.

It's unclear what caused the accident, but police have said the car was speeding.
