Police ID pedestrian struck, killed on Durham road

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in the 4700 block of Hillsborough Road on Wednesday night, Durham Police said.

Police said the incident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. when a Ford Escape struck the pedestrian, who was walking near the fog line on the road.

The pedestrian, identified as 74-year-old Loyd McMahon, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ford Escape involved in the accident was driven by 69-year-old Jack Kruse, of Durham.

No charges have been filed, police said. The accident remains under investigation.
