I-540 reopens following serious crash

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Two out of three lanes of Interstate 540 eastbound were closed near Creedmoor Road Wednesday evening following a crash involving a car and a truck.

The State Highway Patrol says a car crashed into a flatbed truck and became stuck under the truck. The car then caught fire.

It is unclear if anyone was injured.

Traffic was backed up for miles as just one lane squeezed by the accident scene.

The road reopened around 9:45 p.m.
