ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- A live power line fell on a school bus that was transporting students home in Asheville.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports no one was injured in the incident on Monday afternoon.

Officials say the bus driver stopped the bus and called emergency services. Duke Energy crews also responded, and were able to cut the power and safely remove the lines.

Officials say 13 students from Haw Creek Elementary School and the bus driver exited the bus safely.

Director of Transportation for Buncombe County Schools Joseph Hough says bus drivers are trained on situations like this and says the bus driver acted properly.

Duke Energy District Manager Jason Walls says a wire holding the line in place apparently had been struck and damaged over the weekend, causing the line to sag.
