Man sought in connection with fatal Durham crash
DURHAM (WTVD) -- Police are searching for a man involved in a fatal accident last month on the Durham Freeway.
A warrant has been issued charging 24-year-old Justo Zurita-Pena, of Charleston, S.C., with leaving the scene of a traffic accident involving injury.
Zurita-Pena is not in custody at last report.
The crash happened in northbound lanes of NC 147 near the Mangum Street Bridge on the evening of Nov. 26.
Witnesses said the driver of a silver Honda Civic with South Carolina plates was speeding down the roadway when it lost control and careened into a right shoulder guardrail and spun around.
Two people in the backseat of the car were ejected and taken to Duke ER where one man died.
The dead person was identified as Jose Alfredo Cruz Mancilla, 17, of Charlotte. The injured passenger was identified as Juaquin Pana Garcia, 27, of Raleigh, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
