Troopers: Speed played role in fatal Johnston County crash

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- There are new details about a crash in Johnston County that killed a teenager and seriously injured two others Thursday morning.

It happened at Buffalo and Turnipseed roads, near Archer's Lodge.

The State Highway Patrol now says speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

Troopers say 23-year-old Jasmine Villalobos veered off the road and into a power pole.

Her sister, 19-year-old Vicky Villalobos, died.

Two others were rushed to WakeMed.

Troopers say Jasmine Villalobos was going 65 in a 55 mile per hour zone.

Troopers are consulting with the district attorney to determine what charges to file
