Troopers: Woman drove wrong way on I-85
The North Carolina Highway Patrol says a woman driving the wrong way on Interstate 85 caused an accident Thursday morning.

HILLSBOROUGH, NC (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol says a woman driving the wrong way on Interstate 85 caused an accident Thursday morning.

911 operators started getting calls from drivers just after 6:30 a.m. about a vehicle that went north down the southbound exit ramp at Highway 86 onto I-85.

At least one driver who swerved to miss the car ended up crashing into an embankment and flipping over at the 167 mile marker. The unidentified driver is said to be in good condition at a local hospital.

Troopers were able to pull the woman, who was later identified as 80-year-old Rosie Miller of Hurdle Mills, over just short of the Orange County - Durham County line.

Miller underwent a medical exam and was cleared after appearing disoriented following the incident. Troopers cited her for traveling in the wrong direction.

Authorities said it is the second wrong way crash in recent months. Back in May, a woman under the influence of alcohol drove for several miles in the wrong direction before colliding with another vehicle. Both drivers survived the crash.
