Snow leads to flight delays, cancellations at RDU
Record snow and unrelenting cold are putting a deep-freeze on travel in parts of the country.

RALEIGH-DURHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (WTVD) -- Record snow and unrelenting cold are putting a deep-freeze on travel in parts of the country.

The arrival boards at Raleigh-Durham International Airport around 8 p.m. Tuesday told the story of about two dozen delayed flights from various northeastern airports.

Philadelphia International and Newark-Liberty each had three delays. The lion's share came out of LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy. LaGuardia had six delays and JFK had four.

Amanda El Jaouhari, of Holly Springs, waited with her family for her mother-in-law, who was supposed to get in two hours earlier.

"I'm okay with being patient. It's a wonderful gift to have her come and visit, but it is hard to wait especially with the kids," said Jaouhari. "We've got three boys who are very anxious to see their grandmother, and [we're] not getting a lot of information and having to wait the extra two hours. It's difficult."
