Truck collides with school bus in Johnston County
A truck towing a trailer collided with a school bus in Johnston County Thursday morning.

JOHNSTON COUNTY, North Carolina (WTVD) -- A truck towing a trailer collided with a school bus in Johnston County Thursday morning.

It happened at Covered Bridge Road and Applewhite Road east of Archer Lodge in the Wilders area.

There were two students on the bus, but they were not injured. The bus driver suffered minor injuries. The bus was headed to Johnston Community College in Smithfield for the Early College program.

The driver of the truck was taken to WakeMed with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the truck driver ran a stop sign and will be cited for a traffic violation.
