Water main break closes 2 schools early,boil water advisory in place

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Timber Drive Elementary School in Garner and Vance Elementary School in Raleigh closed at 1:30 p.m. Thursday due to broken water mains.

Wake County school officials said school buses provided transportation home for students who ride the bus and parents were able to pick up their children for rides as usual.

They also said staff stayed with students at the schools until arrangements were made for each child to get home.

Classes are expected to resume normally on Friday.

The 12-inch line was repaired about 5 p.m.

As a precautionary measure, customers in these areas will be under a boil water advisory.
