ABC11 Meteorologist Don "Big Weather" Schwenneker says the cold front that crossed the area last night will slow down and stall near the coast, then an area of low pressure tracks along the front - bringing additional periods of rain today into the evening hours.

By the afternoon, we will likely be in the 50s. It is well over a 10 degree drop from yesterday's warm, but very soggy, weather. Wednesday's afternoon commute was hit with heavy rain and flooding.

Schwenneker says as the low pressure area moves off to the northeast Thursday, drier air will finally move in from the west on Friday. High pressure will build in from the west and this leads to dry, and settled, weather through Saturday night.

Another coastal storm will form off the coast of Georgia Sunday morning then track northward. This will bring some rain to mostly the coastal Carolinas Sunday into Sunday night. Some of it could kick to the North and West and make it to the Triangle. Current models suggest the precipitation shield will stay just east of the Triangle.
