Cool Thanksgiving, Warmer Weekend

Colder air moved in last night and we will be cooler than recently this Thanksgiving Day.

It will be a tranquil day with partial sunshine as some high-level moisture moves northeastward from a low pressure area developing down in the Gulf of Mexico. Areas farther west of the Triangle will be mostly sunny, and the sunshine will be dimmed more often farther to the east of the Triangle. Sometimes these higher clouds can lead to some neat features in the sky, like a halo around the sun, or a sun dog, which can sometimes be seen as a bright or colored spot in the sky on the same horizontal plane as the sun to the left or to the right. Just something to look for as you walk off some of that turkey. Temperatures today will be about 10 degrees Fahrenheit lower than recent days, with highs only the low 50s.

This storm developing in the Gulf today will be forced to take a track pretty far to our southeast as it tracks east-northeast across Florida and into the Atlantic tonight into tomorrow morning. This is thanks to high pressure that will be centered to our north. That means tomorrow will be another dry day and should offer more sunshine than clouds with temperatures rising into the middle to upper 50s.

It will be another nice day Saturday with sunshine and temperatures rebounding into the middle 60s ahead of a front that will cross the area with no rain.

That front will help keep temperatures from rising beyond the middle 50s Sunday and Monday despite plenty of sunshine.

Have a great Thursday and a very Happy Thanksgiving!
