A cold front dropping in from the north will knock temperatures down over north and eastern parts of the region today. Areas north and northeast of the Triangle will be most affected by this weak surge of low-level cool air. Temperatures will be running 10-15 degrees lower than today.

Places like Roanoke Rapids could have readings no higher than the 60s. Even though the front will near Durham and Raleigh around daybreak, it retreats back north of Raleigh and Durham this afternoon. If the front fails to do so, readings might also be no higher than the 60s over much of the Triangle.

High pressure over New England is responsible for pushing the cold front south into the area and it will move east tomorrow. This will allow high off the Southeastern coast to regain control over the weather across central North Carolina and this brings near-record warmth tomorrow and Sunday.

A cold front will arrive in the Piedmont late Sunday or Sunday night, bringing showers to the area Sunday afternoon and into the night along with cooler, more seasonable temperatures.

A wave of low pressure will form along the front moving into the region Sunday night. This brings more wet weather Monday.

A large area of high pressure will build back into the East Monday night into Tuesday. This will promote a dry sunny day Tuesday. Temperatures will lower early next week, but still a few degrees above normal.

Have a great weekend!
