Businesses around the Triangle says solar eclipse glasses are selling out as fast as they can get them in stock.

The Ace Hardware store off Main Street in Rolesville is no exception. Friday morning, the store received a shipment of around 100 glasses and they sold out in five minutes, according to store manager Craig Allen.

The store doesn't open until eight, but a line formed well before then. Tickets were distributed to lucky buyers.

The phones have been ringing nonstop. Donna Waverly, cashier for the store, said business has been hectic between chasing people out and answering phones.

Rick Jackson is one of the few who were able to snatch a pair, courtesy of his wife.

"I didn't realize they were such a hot commodity until my wife said she had to come and get a ticket and stand in line," he explained.

But the glasses have been good for business. Allen says a lot of residents may not have known Ace Hardware took up the corner of a lot just inside town.

"We've seen a lot of people we've never seen in the store before" said Allen.

Ace Hardware (411 S. Main St., Rolesville) says they expect a shipment of at least a couple hundred more Saturday morning. Again, they will pass out tickets. They are encouraging those seeking out the glasses to arrive early.
