Florida town cleaning up from tornado
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (WTVD) -- An EF-1 tornado touched down in a south Florida town Wednesday, uprooting trees and knocking down power lines.
Electricity was knocked out to more than 500 residents in Coconut Creek.
The twister flipped cars in a Broward County parking lot and caused a tractor trailer to overturn.
The severe weather also caused a collision on Florida's Turnpike. A vehicle traveling in the southbound lanes was swept up by the wind and dropped in the northbound lanes. Despite the damage, Coconut Creek police told ABC News that no injuries have been reported.
Meteorologists from the National Weather Service surveyed damage Wednesday afternoon and estimated that the tornado had winds between 90 and 100 miles per hour.
The Storm Prediction Center issued a marginal risk for severe storms for all of south Florida Wednesday. Isolated tornadoes and large hail are possible Wednesday afternoon and evening for the area.
