Heavy rains cause problems in Sandhills

HOPE MILLS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Some drivers encountered high water in Hope Mills after heavy rains Friday afternoon.

Video from the scene showed standing water along Legion Road and other areas. There's no word on any injuries.

Flood warnings and advisories were posted for some areas.

ABC11 Chief Meteorologist Chris Hohmann said up to three inches of rain fell in some areas.

Officials advise drivers to avoid driving through high water. It only takes a few inches of rain to carry away a vehicle.
