We are in for a dry and warm Tuesday. Highs will reach the low to mid 80s with a light breeze. Lows tonight will drop to the 60s.

Temperatures will rise Thursday thanks to high pressure. Highs Wednesday and Thursday will get very close to the 90s. Keep in mind our average high is near 81 degrees. The good news is this warming trend will be short lived. Highs will cool down to the lower 80s by the weekend.

TROPICS

--Jose continues to move north off the North Carolina coast as a Category 1 hurricane. Jose will move into cooler water later tomorrow and tomorrow night and this will cause the tropical cyclone to weaken to a tropical storm later tomorrow or tomorrow night. Jose will impact coastal areas of the mid-Atlantic and southern New England coastal areas with bands of rain and gusty winds starting later tomorrow and lasting through Wednesday night, perhaps through Thursday. The worst of the impacts will occur closer to eastern Long Island and southeast New England, especially Cape Cod, Nantucket, Block Island and Martha's Vineyard. Heavy rain and wind gusts between
50-60 mph will be possible across these areas. Large waves, dangerous rip currents and beach erosion will batter the East Coast beaches for much of this week. Jose may stall off the New England Coast later this week and gradually weaken to a non tropical low pressure area by the end of the week.

-Meanwhile, Maria has rapidly strengthened into a Category 5 hurricane. Where the hurricane tracks will determine how much land interaction it has with Puerto Rico and Hispaniola. The southern Leewards, northern Windwards, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Hispaniola are expected to be highly impacted by this very dangerous hurricane this evening through Thursday with wind damage, flash flooding and higher terrain mudslides. The hurricane will track near or over the Turks and Caicos Islands Thursday night and Friday and then track just east of the Bahamas this weekend.

Have a great day!
