Patchy clouds that have developed throughout the day will begin to dissipate as the sun sets tonight. It will remain dry and warm both days of the weekend and into the middle of next week. Each day will feature more sun than clouds. The weather pattern will be slow to change along the Eastern Seaboard as Maria tracks northward off the East Coast. Look for sunny, warm days in the 80s and clear nights in the 60s.

Just as the swells from Jose have diminished at the beaches, new swells from Maria will begin to impact the beaches this weekend. Maria is expected to take a very similar path to Jose early next week, not impacting the weather across the central North Carolina..

Hurricane Maria is moving away from the Turks and Caicos and southern Bahamas. But, wind and rain will batter the islands for a few more hours. Winds can still gust past 60 mph, causing dangerous blowing debris. Improving conditions will continue across Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic as rain diminishes this evening. Rough surf, high waves and rip currents will impact east-facing beaches of the central and northern Bahamas through tomorrow. Many beaches along the East Coast of the U.S. will see rough surf conditions this weekend and into next week, while the Outer Banks could see some stray showers from outer bands of Maria.

Have a great weekend!
