NANTUCKET, Mass. -- After months of deep freeze, one Massachusetts photographer captured some chilling beauty when ocean waves turned to slush.

Jonathan Nimerfroh took a photo of what he called a "slurpee" wave hitting the Nantucket shoreline.

"Just been super cold here," Nimerfroh told Stay Wild Magazine. "The harbor to the main land is frozen solid. No boats running. But yea, the day after I took these it actually froze up the shoreline for 200 yards out. Solid ice. I was totally tripping when I pulled up to the beach and saw this."

The day he took this shot, the high temperature for the day was 19 degrees.
