In Durham, Thursday's torrential rains caused flash flooding. At the height of the storm, water started rising on University Drive, turning the street into a river.

Chief Meteorologist Chris Hohmann said the upcoming weekend weather will be much more pleasant.

"In the wake of all that wet and unsettled weather, the weekend will be wonderful across the Carolinas with high pressure building in from the west," Hohmann said.

According to Hohmann, temperatures will climb into the 70s both days of the weekend. Sunday will be the warmer of the two days.
