RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The City of Raleigh's push to transform Capital Boulevard took another step forward Friday.

It struck a deal to buy the Milner Inn property for $830,000. It's located in the 1800-block of Capital Boulevard between downtown and Interstate 440.

In August, people at the Milner Inn and the nearby Capital Inn had to be rescued from flooding caused by heavy rains.

The city wants to convert Capital from a basically industrial zone into a friendlier gateway to the city.

A closing is tentatively planned for mid to late October.
