In eastern Wake County, lightning may be to blame for a fire on Cedar Rail Road near Rock Quarry Road. Fire officials said a storm was moving through when a building caught fire. It was destroyed. No one was injured.

In Cary, storms were also moving through when a house on Livingstone Drive caught fire. The fire, which started in the garage, was knocked down quickly. Every one inside the home got out safely.

What's Ahead

After the stormy night, temperatures won't be as high Wednesday.

"The front will allow dry weather and more sunshine than clouds tomorrow with less heat and lowering humidity," said ABC11 Chief Meteorologist Chris Hohmann. "High temperatures will hold close to 90, which is about average for this time of year."

The dry spell will not last long as an area of low pressure that will form along the tail-end of the front will cross the Carolinas on Thursday. It will pass close enough to the Triangle to bring an uptick in humidity and return a shower or thunderstorm. A fresh shot of drier and more comfortable air will arrive on Friday.

Generally rain-free conditions are expected for the weekend.
