FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- While northern parts of the viewing area remained dry Tuesday, parts of the Sandhills saw heavy rains, strong storms and flash flooding Tuesday evening.

Anywhere from 4" to 6" of rain fell in parts of Cumberland and Sampson counties throughout the evening.

Hope Mills was especially hard hit with some reports of flooding as high as knee level in some areas as storm sewers struggled to remove the water.
