RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The biggest threat of severe weather from high winds will be Friday afternoon and evening across much of the state.

It's part of a cold front moving in from the north late Friday night into Saturday. It will bring a big change in the weather over the weekend.

"Ahead of the front tonight into tomorrow expect a couple of showers and thunderstorms to cross the area," said ABC11 Chief Meteorologist Chris Hohmann. "Now, it will not rain much of the time, but when it does, any thunderstorm can be on the heavy side. It remains humid into tomorrow, but tomorrow will not be as hot as it was on Friday."

Cooler and drier air will move in Saturday night and Sunday on a northeast flow. High temperatures on Sunday will only be around 80 and low-level moisture left around may keep a fair amount of clouds around. But drier air aloft will keep it rain free.

Even drier air arriving Monday and Tuesday will allow for more sunshine these days, while the humidity is low and temperatures remain comfortable at, or just a couple of degrees above 80.
