WASHINGTON (WTVD) -- The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) wants to raise the age to legally buy cigarettes nationwide to 21.

That includes all tobacco products and e-cigarettes.

Right now, only Hawaii and about 90 other cities and communities enforce a 21-year-old age limit.

The recommendation was among more than two-dozen released Monday by the nation's leading pediatrics group.

Another recommendation would outlaw flavors like grape and cotton candy added to tobacco products.

The group also urged the FDA to regulate e-cigarettes like it does other tobacco products.
