Small earthquake felt in western North Carolina

BURNSVILLE, NC (WTVD) -- The United States Geological Survey says a small earthquake with a magnitude of 2.5 was felt north of Asheville around 9:30 Monday night.

The trembler was centered just northwest of Burnsville. There were no reports of damage.

The USGS says small quakes hit the Carolinas every year or two. Larger ones hit every few decades.
