FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A high school student was arrested earlier Wednesday on what Cumberland County sheriff's deputies call "sextortion."

Law officers said 16-year-old William Allen Buie, a Fayetteville Freedom Christian Academy student, allegedly duped other juveniles to send him and trade "compromising" pictures, with which Buie then allegedly threatened to send to classmates and parents unless the victims gave him their passwords to social media accounts.

Buie is charged with 45 counts of sexual exploitation and has a first court appearance Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

Sheriff's deputies will only say there are several juvenile victims of this alleged "sextortion."

Sheriff's detectives executed a search warrant on May 20 at Buie's residence in Fayetteville. Detectives seized a computer and other electronic devices believed to have been used by the suspect during the commission of this crime.

Buie is being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center under $215,000 bond.
