Student stabbed, robbed near NC State
A robbery suspect remains at large Friday night.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- An NC State student was stabbed and robbed near campus, police said. Authorities are searching for the suspect.

"Shocking," said NC State sophomore Rusata Loher. "There's always so many people here."

Loher said she uses the parking lot on Varsity Drive almost every day. She was stunned to find out that just hours before she was getting into her car, that another student, doing the same thing just a few feet away, was attacked.

Campus police said the suspect robbed the student of her book bag and stabbed her with a small knife about 4 p.m. in Varsity Lot. She was taken to the hospital but her condition was not released.

Police are looking for a black man in his early 20s who stands about 5 feet 10 inches. The suspect was reportedly wearing a gray sweater and blue jeans.

The suspect was last seen running through Varsity Lot toward Gorman Street.

The student was able to get quick medical attention, thanks to the EMS station right across the street from the parking lot. Police say her injuries are not life-threatening.

While police look for the suspect in that crime, this is just one of several assaults on campus this month.

During the weekend, a student reported being grabbed by a man and fondled.

Two weeks ago, another student said a man tried to rob her at gunpoint in the Governor's Scott Courtyard.

Those crimes happened in the middle of the night, but with this latest one happening in the light of day, students are being extra cautious.

"There should be more cameras around, security," Loher said.
