Body found at Harris Lake

NEW HILL, NC (WTVD) -- The Chatham County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of a body at the Shearon Harris Reservoir boat ramps off Crosspoint Road.

The body was found by a boater in the water. It was sent to the medical examiner's office to determine a cause of death.

Our crew at the scene said it appeared that a kayak was also recovered.

The lake supplies cooling water to the nearby nuclear plant west of Apex, Holly Springs, and Fuquay-Varina.
