Pedestrian hit by car
A pedestrian was critically injured when he was struck by a car in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Fayetteville on Tuesday evening.

Police responded at 6:42 p.m. to a report of a crash on Owen Drive near Village Drive.

Police said the pedestrian, identified as Jeremy Karpinecz, 45, of Fayetteville, was walking east across Owen Drive when he was struck by a 2002 Mitsubishi driven by LaShawn Peterson, 57, also of Fayetteville.

Karpinecz was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and is still listed in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

Southbound Owen Drive was closed at the Melrose Road intersection for a couple of hours. All lanes have since reopened.

No charges have been filed.
